Reflecting on Term 3
Term 3 was Miss Mareeta’s first term at Just Kids and what a great term it has been. There have been a lot of wonderful learning experiences in Pre Prep. Our focus aligned around Book Week and we explored many different authors. For Show and Share we had books from home making their way into the Pre Prep room. Over the term, children developed confidence in sharing their books with their friends. This initiated a lot of conversation about the characters and events in books. Pre Prep children were encouraged to express and opinion on which events they liked in texts as well as which events they did not like. We discussed the differences in opinions and that it was okay for people to like different parts of the book. We extended our learning to spending time with friends from JK2 and sharing our favourite books with them. Thank you to all the wonderful families who supported our book studies by encouraging books to come in from home. Here are some special moments from this term.
We went Beyond JK twice in Term 3. We visited CPAC to watch Possum Magic and just recently we went and had a ride on the Reef Eye. Thank you to all the parent helpers who joined us on either or both of these experiences. Sharing these moments together are so special and allow children to interact in an environment other than the JK space. Here are some frozen moments from our two Beyond JK experiences this term.
What does Term 4 look like in Pre Prep?
Term 4 in Pre Prep is all about “Getting Set for Prep”. We will be having many discussions about school next year, which school children are going to, what colours their uniform will be and if they having siblings at school already. If your child has any transition days or “bump up” days please let us know so we are able to incorporate them into our days. This is an exciting time for everyone involved, however can also be quite daunting. We’d love to have a coffee conversation with you to ensure the transition to school goes as smoothly as possible. Miss Mareeta will be on holidays from the 9th October – 11th October.
JK Closure
We are giving our JK House a make over! Dates of our closure are as follows :
Tuesday 24th December 2019 – Friday 17th January 2020. Just Kids will reopen on Monday 20th January 2020.
